Diabetes Medicines

The term 'diabetes' covers a range of medical conditions that affect how well your body can digest and use glucose (sugar). People with insulin-dependent diabetes, also known as type 1 diabetes, need daily injections of insulin to manage their condition. Most other diabetes medicines are used to manage type 2 diabetes. There are several different classes of medicine which all work in different ways. Often a combination of more than one medicine is needed to control blood sugar levels. Commonly used diabetes medicines include gliclazide, metformin and empagliflozin.
